It’s a sunny winter’s day in early February, and Valentine’s Day is just round the corner. Yet another lovely occasion to give flowers as a gift. Although, do you really need a reason? “Not necessarily,” smiles Isabel Hartl. “You can always bring joy to just about anyone with flowers.” Even just before midday, the florist’s on the town square is still a hive of activity. It’s not just flowers and greenery that make the place look so lovely – accessories to stand on shelves or hang up, vases and – very much in vogue at the moment – feathers in every colour imaginable are also catching the eye.

Even as a child, Isabel knew she wanted to work with flowers. “My mum once said: ‘The worst thing would have been if we hadn’t found an apprenticeship for you’,” such was Isabel’s enthusiasm for these messengers of the heart even back then. She completed her apprenticeship as a florist at Blumen Germann in Mittersill, gained experience in Neukirchen and Zell am See, and finally realised her dream of setting up her own business in 2007.

For her, flowers are something special: elegant yet so natural, appearing graceful yet vulnerable, robust and delicate all at once. As colourful and diverse as life itself, in all its facets.
