Long-distance hiking on a par with Austria’s highest mountains
275 km – 14,000 metres of elevation gain and 17 stages – the Hohe Tauern Panoramatrail offers all this and much more. On this long-distance hiking trail, you’ll trek through almost untouched natural landscapes and along legendary trade routes. After a day’s walk lasting 4 to 7 hours, you’ll have the chance to spend the night in the region’s most beautiful accommodation. The trail leads from the Krimml Waterfalls to Lake Zell, and then on via Rauris and Gastein to Hüttschlag in the Valley of the Alpine Pastures. The entire route offers breathtaking and unique views of Austria’s highest mountains. Along the way, there are numerous natural spectacles, exhibitions well worth seeing, picturesque national park villages and attractive destinations for day trips. The use of mountain railways or convenient shuttle services at the stage destinations, as well as a bookable luggage transfer service, ensure the utmost comfort.
Signposting along the entire long-distance hiking trail is standardised using green supplementary signs. To help you find your way around even more easily, the “Erlebnis Nationalpark” hiking app is your ideal companion on the Hohe Tauern Panorama Trail. The app includes a topographical hiking map and descriptions of all the stages, as well as information on mountain huts, viewpoints, inns and leisure facilities. It can also be used offline.
