Kitzlochklamm Gorge, Taxenbach

At the Kitzlochklamm, ‘Coolness’ lives up to its name – it’s cold. At least as far as the water temperature is concerned. In fact, the name comes from young goats that used to seek out the cool water of the gorge in summer and make themselves comfortable in the shade of the bizarre rock formations.
There are also three beautiful via ferrata routes around the gorge, a viewing platform offering a dizzying view down into the gorge, and guided torchlight walks – enlightenment guaranteed.

The waters of the Rauriser Arche rush through the narrow gorge with incredible force. The crystal-clear water roars between the steep rock faces and eventually flows into the Salzach. The gorge owes its name to the ‘Geißenvolk’, a group of people who used to enjoy visiting the cool gorge in summer.
Now you can hike through this gorge and marvel at the power of the water, the high rock faces and the natural surroundings in Taxenbach. For all you adrenaline junkies, there are also three different via ferrata routes: The Klammfloh, the Freifall and the Kitz via ferrata.
